Sam Rush

Sam Rush – Assistant Winemaker at Pipers Brook Vineyard.

Born and raised in Sydney, Sam’s winemaking journey started almost a decade ago while studying Forensic Chemistry. With a science background, he was drawn to the creativity of the wine industry through his work in hospitality.

Sam’s winemaking career began in the Hunter Valley, joining the team at Margan Family Wines where he was Assistant Winemaker for four years. Here, he developed his skills working with classic Hunter varieties – all while completing a Masters in Viticulture and Oenology at Charles Sturt University.

With an interest in cool climate wines, in 2019 Sam made the move to Tasmania to further expand his knowledge. He has since been fortunate enough to work with several celebrated Tasmanian producers including Delamere Vineyard, Stefano Lubiana Wines and Tamar Ridge/Devils Corner Winery.

In 2021 Sam fulfilled a life-long dream of establishing his own wine label, with the establishment of Rush Wines. Through Rush Wines Sam has since crafted his own Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay with grapes sourced from the beautiful Tamar Valley region in lutruwita/Tasmania.
