jacqui Dolan is Head Winemaker at Milton Vineyard, on East Coast Tasmania. Tassie born and bred, Jacqui’s parents had a keen interest in wine, dragging her around on wine tours as a child they would often joke that she should be a Winemaker when she grew up. A school project on Moorilla Estate, would have been an unusual choice for an 11 year old, and it seems uncanny that she would end up working there as an adult.
Jacqui has worked in the Tasmanian wine industry since 2009, where she began her career pruning at Clemens Hill Vineyard in the Coal Valley, later becoming Vineyard Manager. After several years working in vineyards, studying Viticulture and Winemaking, and dabbling in the winery over vintage; Jacqui started to develop more of an interest in Winemaking. When offered the role of Assistant Winemaker at Derwent Estate in 2016 , she jumped at the chance. It was here that she first had a hand in making some of the wines for Milton Vineyard, and later went on to gain more experience as Assistant Winemaker at Moorilla Estate and Domaine A, before taking on the role of Winemaker at Milton in their new on site facility in 2023.
Jacqui is passionate about the quality of wines in Tasmania, and particularly enjoys making Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. After only a couple of years in a head winemaker role, Jacqui has already received some trophies for her wines, and the future is looking bright.
